The gray or silver color phase of the Emory's Complex is less common than the normal brown or greenish phase and tends to come from the more westerly part of it's range. There are also some awesome light brown/tan snakes in this complex of Great Plains ratsnakes that are seldom seen in the hobby that come from the far southern part of the range mostly. The Great Plains rats are less understood and also underappreciated compared to the corn snakes. There's a lot of variability just in the normals depending on where they come from, and there's getting to be a number of morphs to go along. Someday, I doubt we'll know for sure how much of which subspecies is in the genes of a snake, and just recognize it by it's color, pattern, size, and shape, etc.
