my beardie has a habit of running back and forward through his own poop if i aint had the chance to clean it yet. this in turn means it end up over the walls of the tank and all over him

he ends up stinking

not saying thats what it is just a possibility

Sure washing should help with the smell. If you see him dirty, or poop in the cage get it out and give him a nice warm bath. I got 7 dragons and you would not even know they were here. I spot clean the cages daily, and bath them once a week or when they dance in thier own poop. gross.lol. I also use a plastic non slip type cage liner which makes cleaning daily so much easier. I cut pieces of non slip shelf liners to the size of the bottom of the cages. With a damp paper towel you can keep the cages spotless, and sanitary. Works really well when you got a lot of cages to clean daily.
