Newt poisoning, help!

Melissa Dec 25, 2005 11:13 AM

ok, save the criticism, I should have known better. But I put my friend's 3in. firebelly newt in my 65g tank with my 2 Whites. I didn't think they would try to eat it since it was too big for them. But I found my female this morning clinging to some driftwood with her legs, but her body was hanging over the side.

Now the newt is out of the tank, and I've washed my hands. The male seems to be fine. I think the fameale is still alive because her pupils respond to light, but she is hardly breathing. Is there anyhting I can do for her?

Good luck, I would help you but I know nothing about FBN poison...

It's not enough to simply remove the newt, you must do a complete water change and clean all the furniture and gravel to fully remove the toxins.
