Has anyone had any success with hide boxes with the Western Green Mambas? I tried one once without any luck, but it was a half-hearted attempt. I'd like to be able to move mine around, safely, and always use the hide boxes with my other elapids.

HiHammer:
The keepers at the Henry Dorley Zoo in Omaha have their Costal Taipan "Trained" to enter the trap box to find food. While in there they can safely work in the large enclosure or do what they need with the animal. It takes time and patients and only works abour 75% of the time.

Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is probably the reason why so few engage in it.

That is a nice set-up they have for their Taipan, as well as their other snakes. I would love for them to add more snakes to their collection.
The only negative is that you have to go through the entire Desert Dome to get to the snakes near the end. This isn't bad but if the place is crowded it's hard to pop in and just see the snakes a 2nd time before leaving. (maybe you can go in the exit I guess but then you are swimming upstream so to speak.)
All told, a wonderful zoo.
