You definately need a permit.
Its not hard to get through the DNR in illinois.
Let me know if you wnat any smaller ones I have (3) 4-6 inch ones I have to part with.
( I have the address somewhere also for the DNR office.)

Yes you need a permit but i agree don't say anything and you should be fine. i however have permits for mine and what i did not realize like fishing license and gun license and every other permit you must get either state or federal is that it is a free ticket for them to pay you a visit whenever they please and they can even inspect your set up whenever they please. and with a permit you have to file a yearly report kind of a huge headache. but i played it safe and got one.
