The grated tops on these cages? Have you ever have snakes get nose rubs because of the metal? Can you post a pic of what the top grate looks like? Thanks guys, and nice setups! Dan

I personally do not have any freedom breeders so I am no expert on them but I have done a lot of research on them. I have not heard of anyone having problems with nose rubbing. Most of the problems have to do with humitity, temp., and some people really think the are too short. Most of the people I talked to said they are great, only if you can control the entire rooms temp. and humitity. Some breeders have added plexy (sp)glass to half of the screen to keep more humitity in them. The other problem I have heard with them is the bottom cages stay too cold and the top cages are too hot. I'm pretty sure this has to do with not being able to heat the entire room. I think one big breeder actually added a floor that heats up to keep the bottom cages at the correct temp. The only other problem I have heard is that you can get an electrical shock from them. With all that said, I am still planning on getting some because I will be able to control the entire room. And besides the problems I've stated, people seem to like them. I like them because the save tons of room and they look like they will hold up for quite a few years. Not to mention, they look very professional. Hope this helps you.

I agree. No nose rubbing problems.

I keep my room heated and it stays humid enough there so those are really problems but I will say I agree that there is quite a large temp range between the bottom and top cages. About 5 degrees in my setup. I could probably seal the bottom cage or two better with plexi and get a RHP panel to fix that but I dont mind the variation too much. My bottom cage stays at 80 and the top around 85 ... and everything inbetween in the others.

Having said that I love the freedom breeders. The whole pull out style is awesome. Soooo much easier to clean cages... and its more effecient because the cage can be deeper (closer to a square than a rectangle.. which is better for a curled up boa in a circle). All of my adult breeders will be in freedoms.
