? for breeders on dealing with customer service and how they handle these particular situations

buyers remorse,5-7 day health guarantee,my $1-10,000 snake died within a week for "NO" apparent reason,my animal arrived dead,my animal still wont eat (even though you shipped them an eating animal),I was shipped a missexed animal

if a customer buys an expensive animal and decides that he made the wrong decision and YOU choose not to take the animal back or give a refund and that customer injures the animal purposely ex. to cold to hot dropped on the floor a few times
(HOPEFULLY unlikely but in this day and age very possible) and the animal dies wihin a week from shock/wounds are you now responsible for the refund or replacemnt

if the snake dies and the customer refuses to send it back at their expense or they threw it away already and cant show proof of the dead animal should they get their money back or a replacement animal

is it wrong to tell someone that if the snake dies within a week that the new owner should ship the animal back at "their" expense and that an autopsy will be done to see if it was natural or bad husbandry on the new owners part and that depending on the outcome of the autopsy is whether they will get their $$ back

if the snake refuses to eat due to bad husbandry and the snake eventually dies is it your responsibility to take the loss and either send another after getting your original animal back

im interested in hearing feedback

Buyers remorse happens but if you think they may purposely do things that would result in the animals death, inform them that a necropsy will be performed BEFORE any refunds are considered. Also, inform them that a necropsy is likely to take months to complete.

Sometimes, it's a matter of reasoning with some people. Those with genuine problems, I try to work with. Others, who have no concern for your time and efforts, really annoy me. With those, simply offer to buy the snake back at a reduced price - provided you have met your obligations first. Let's say you sell a 2k snake and the buyer just doesn't want it - wife's mad or something. Offer him 1.5K to take the snake back. You get $500 for your trouble, the buyer gets most of his money back and the snake has a chance to go to a good home.

I think having a clearly stated TOS is imperative.

Mine is constantly being updated. I had a buyer early last year that had a "bit" of remorse. I offered to take the animal back but at a reduced cost. He refused and got all sorts of pissed. It comes with the territory if you ask me.

I just make sure to be calm, patient, and just listen to what they are saying. Sometimes you can get a lot info from people without saying many words at all. If it's buyers remorse, it will become evident in their speech. At least in my case(s) it has been.

I agree with having a very clear TOS. This does protect you but you cant make everybody happy. There are people out there that will slander you online and realy hold a grudge. It really does come with the territory. Keeping cool and calm helps alot. On both the seller and buyer standpoint. Its real hard to come to an agreement when the conversation starts out by cussing the other party out. I have also offered a credit towards future purchases as well. Tim

I personally, completly agree with not returning money, if the buyer refuses to ship or at least photograph the dead animal in question. When you are dealing with thousand instead of a few bucks spent on a goldfish, it is difficult for the seller to just take a customers word and refund the money or send out another animal. With any sale i complete , i make sure that the customer is aware of this. I will try my hardest to make them happy, but if you get a call 10 - 15 days later and they said it died and they want their money back, and i never recieved a phone call prior to about any concerns regardng the animal then i dont feel it is the sellers responsability. If an animal is shipped ill the buyer should be able to notice apon arrival or at least a few days after that there is something wrong. A seven day gaurentee gives them enough time to get the animal settled down, to feed them and observe them, within this time it should be clear that the animal is either ill or healthy. If the animal is ill the buyer should make the seller aware within the 7 days before the animal is dead. I would rather have a customer call me a hundred times with questions, then once to say the animal has passed.

till they leave my hand

that's why I don't ship

people suck

yes.I have sold 15$ corns to person who took it to car and fried it and argued with me that they didn't as I bounced the rubbery snake on the table and said.yes I have seen this before and it is a snake that has definately been fried in the sun.......then give them a $20 snake (their idea) to reimburse them and tell them to please never talk to me or visit my tables again and learn to be better at keeping stuff alive cause they are liers and thieves.......bye

I hate people

...............bad husbandry equals no refunds
