Broken tail?

deam0ngirl Dec 26, 2005 02:58 PM

I came home on sat and fed the Leo's there crickets, and noticed bedding stuck to the underside of my female, i thought she had poop stuck to her so insted of pulling it off i put her in warm water to soak. very quickly i realized the dark was dried blood. her tail is cut at the base about 1/2 inch below her vent, and not quite halfway thru. i cleaed it and put her in a "hospital" cage. it is still attached. what should i do? i figured by now she would have dropped it is it possible it will be fine?

Just out of curiosity, what might have happened to her to induce autotomy?

Well i really wish i could answer that. like i said i came home to dried blood. she is in a 40 breeder with a male. there are two hides on each side and i never find both of them together, they have claimed there own hides. she usually takes the humid hide but kicks most of the moss out. when i droped the crickets in she was under a rock structure on the cold side. on the top rock was two drops of blood. there was no blood anywhere else. i really wish i knew its bugging me, i m wondering if the male bit her, but its on the underside of the tail in a straight line
