Humidity Help

Grunngg Dec 26, 2005 06:55 PM

Hey guys. I just wanted to ask a question about humidity. My room is pretty dry. I spray my tanks at least once a day. But the room itself stays at about 40%. I was thinking, I bought this "Ultra-Sonic Fogger" Do you think maybe I should set it up to make a small fog near the tanks to help with humidity, so it doesnt get to dry during the day when I cant spray it?

Have you ever tried restricting/limiting the amount of ventilation/air flow into and out of the enclosure? If there is too much ventilation, no matter how often you mist or spray the enclosure, you will constantly be fighting against the laws of physics. This can all be prevented/alleviated by preventing the loss of humidity in the first place.

Most people use aquaria with screen tops, which do absolutely nothing to help maintain stable temperatures or humidity levels. In my experiences, screening is a poor choice for a cover/top to virtually any enclosure. Physics sure puts up a fight...

Good luck,

Bob

My screen lids are covered at least 70% with plastic wrap with cardboard over it.

aren't beardies desert animals and dont need much humidity?
unless you're asking about other herps. and i've used foggers before, they make it hard to see the animal because they cloud the glass, but if you're more concerned with the animals welfare, they work ok, but sometimes put the humidity too high for some lizards like leos.
