That was the temp I was told. Mine has been staying around 60-65, but I am in Cali, with a mild winter. So, I guess it depends on your local weather. I was also told that a couple of peaks in the temp is not a big deal

Don't keep them down for a really LONG time at 60-65. They are likely not fully brumated and may lose more weight than you want.

It tends to drop to 50-55 at night. it is only 65 during some of the real mild days. What temp are you suggesting?

Misty,
I could tell by your response to the other poster that you have a pretty good idea of what the "suggested" brumation temps are. For corn snakes, a little winter cooling is often more than enough to cycle them into breeding. If your temps are closer to 60-65 than they are to 50-55, I would think that you may want to only keep your snakes down for a few weeks or just a little over a month. If you try to keep your snakes "hibernated" for 2-3 months at temps around 60, they will most likely lose more weight than you wish. Just keep an eye on the temps and proceed accordingly. The overall health and weight of your snakes should also be taken into consideration. If all your animals are "fat & sassy" then you have less to worry about. If you have a few underweight or borderline snakes, then you want to be careful not to shrink them much further. Good luck. Duffy
I definitely do not want to chance the health of my snakes. They have been down since Nov 14th, and have not lost a noticable amount of weight. I was planning on taking them out around Feb 14. If the temperature does not cool back down, then I might have to take them out early. Will they still want to breed after being down for only 2 months (Jan 14th)? Thanks for all the help so far. This is my first time breeding, and I have done research on it but any extra help would be great.

I would think that 2 months would be fine, especially for the corns. Lots of folks breed corns with little or no brumation. Keep an eye on the temps and their condition & you'll be fine. Duffy
