My oldest BCI's won't be ready for breeding until late 2006 but I was wondering, does anyone breed their BCI's in a colony type cage? I have been breeding my BRB's that way and have very good success with breeding in 1.3 and 1.4 colonies. The 1.4 colony gave me 90 babies this year. So, with BCI's would it work to put a couple of females and one male into a single large cage for breeding.

Opinions?

I know this works for some people, but it hasn't for me. My experience has been that the male will concentrate all of his energy on one female until he over it or she ovulates. Most of the time, it takes many weeks of stimulation from the male before an ovulation takes place. If you are going to use one male to service multiple females I would let him concentrate one until he loses interest in her.....then give him a little break and move him to the next cage. My experience has been that he won't have any problem servicing another girl.
