Spot noses and Bandits

tailswithscales Dec 27, 2005 10:28 AM

I have seen in the KS classifieds BP's being sold as a "Spot Nose" and "Bandit". Does anyone have pictures of what a Spot Nose and a Bandit is? I believe the "Bandits" are snakes where their eye/face markings connect making a masked looked???? Will any of you please post up pictures? Thanks.

Be very careful often times people stick a cutsie name on their ad to make their normal snake sound more like something it's not. There is a Spotnose ball python that was proven by VPI - however there are very few people who are working with a genetic Spotnose - there are a lot of people that have balls with a couple of spots next to their nose which they call spotnoses but they aren't - The Spotnose. This is VPIs Spotnose that creates the Powerball:

As for bandits - it sounds like another cutsie name someone put on a normal ball that has it's mask/crown/halo that connects at the back - no big deal I've seen some pastels/normals/hets that have this. Don't know if its genetic or just a fluke (anyone else know?) Heres one from the classifieds:

Ok, so he has a spot on his nose. But he's not really the genetic Spotnose produced at VPI. Still a good looking fellow.

Tosha is right. Watch out for fancy marketing.
