I don't know what the clicking might be but some of the signs of RI are- lethargy (hard to tell in a tortoise), runny eyes and nose, loss of appetite, labored breathing.

first off, if you haven't already -- you should schedule an appointment with a veterinarian experienced in reptiles for a check-up to let him/her verify that everything is okay. ideally you will bring in a fecal sample to make sure that your new baby doesn't have parasites.

the other reply mentioned respiratory illness symptoms... if your tort has none of those, listen closely when it's making the sound. does it seem to be coming from *inside* the tort, or from its mouth? my redfoot, especially when he was a little baby, often made clicking/chirping noises with his beak, and i've read others here saying their torts made similar noises, so i'd not worry as long as there are no other symptoms present.

One of my baby leopards (one month old) is doing that too, it's mostly in the morning when he's hungry. I think the clicking noise comes from him chewing "air".
