YEAH...TUNA WATER!!!!!

wisema2297 Dec 27, 2005 03:55 PM

Thanks to who ever originally posted the tip about using tuna water to get picky hatchlings to start eating!! I have a hatchling snow corn that I have force feed for 9 consecutive feedings. I tried the tuna water trick and she hit it before I could even turn my back. Once again my gratitude goes out and I hope that everyone here had a great Christmas!!

How exactly is this done? FT or live pinks? Does it work on other species? I have 2 infant KSBs that are giving me headaches. I've tried everything, stuck now pinkie pumping them. If I could find out how you actually do this I would be happy to try it on the two of them.

I keep f/t pinkies. I place the frozen pinky in a glad lock sandwich bag and dump th tuna water from the can into the bag with the pinky. I then seal it shut and place it in a sink of hot water ( not too hot ) for about 15 minutes. Then I remove the pinky, discard the tuna water and place the pinky in a small deli cup with air holes in it. I then place the little corn in the deli cup and put the top on and place it back into the cage. The first time I tried it didn't work, but I tried again 2 weeks later and it worked well. I am now trying to see how many times I have to do this before she will take a pinky without tuna water.

As far a other snakes go..I have not had to try it with my other hatchling ( western hog ) but have heard that it works really well for them as well.

Hope evrything works out well for you!!
