a 20 long should be ok. All my guys are in 20 regulars but they could probably use the extra length. Just over 4 1/2 feet is a pretty good sized splendy. Great snakes!
They can get up to five feet, but average 3-1/2 feet. I keep mine in sweater boxes. The rule of thumb I use is the length of the cage should be about 2/3's the length of the snake and the width of the cage should be about 1/3 the length of the snake.

I think they average slightly smaller in the western part of their range. My little three yr. old female is barely three ft. and I keep her comfortably in a ten gallon. I've seen quite a few here in the Santa Cruz Valley, AZ, and none have been much over 36".
