It is certainly nice to see courting...BUT...

it's even NICER to see actual COPULATIONS!

These are the third and fourth females that our male Motley has been working on. He is turning out to be a VERY enthusiastic breeder. One of the females that he's already bred (Hypo) has ovulated and should have her litter sometime in April. The other female is very close to ovulation.

These two girls have big follicles too. The Anery female is a little further along than the Albino Arabesque female but I'm hoping they both go. Motleys het Anery and Motley Arabesque het Albino (whatever those look like) would be fantastic! We'll just have to wait and see!

Thanks for looking,
Celia

I hope you don't mind me asking..
How can you tell what's going on with the follicles?

A virile Motley boy. Does it get any better than that?

Things always get cloudy just before transformation.

ultrasound machine so we're able to get a peak at what's going on inside. I believe the female Albino Arabesque is at 18mm and the female Anery is further along at around 31mm

Thanks,
Celia

I'm not really into morphs, but that is one pairing that looks
very promising. Good luck & Happy New Years!!

Have u had good luck breeding one male to more then one female???

last year i had several males breed more then one female and it resulted in disaster for me .. alot of slug outs and not very high numbers of live babies ...

they were aggressive breeders and bred the females but i guess it was maybe just to much ..

how has ur success been ???

pretty good success with pairing multiple females per male. A couple of years ago, we had one male Hypo Boa breed three female normals sucessfully. The resulting litters were great with lots of nice healthy babies and very few slugs.

Last year, our male Jungle Boa bred three females. Out of the three, two gave us good litters. One female had no slugs or stillborns at all. The third female though did give us a large litter of slugs but I really think it was her more than him. She was really too thin and we shouldn't have even bred her. She had a good litter the year before and didn't put the weight back on very well. I didn't think she would even go but she did and only gave us two good babies and a bunch of slugs. She has this year off and is putting on weight well.

I've heard of both good and bad luck with it though so I guess you can never tell.

Thanks,
Celia

to enter the realm of the confusing! Maybe an Arabesque Motley would be thin saddled, or broad with widdows peaks. Maybe more speckling, higher contrast? It will be neat to see what happens.

You should have an exciting season.
