Aberrant means: straying from the normal way; deviating from the usual or natural type.
For California Kingsnakes in the wild the term aberrant depends upon locale. For example, Cal Kings in Arizona are almost always banded. I've never seen a picture of an aberrant (other than banded) cal king from Arizona. So anything other than banded from Arizona would be considered aberrant by definition. Now in California, that would be different. Most wild cal kings in California are banded BUT there are different locales where striping occurs frequently and in those areas you can find aberrancies (other than banded or striping), basically a mixture of the two.
Today I would not call a striped cal king aberrant as they are found in the wild that way in certain locales and striping is a dominant gene and can be fairly predictable. Aberrancies on the other hand are not predictable BUT are fun to work with!
IMO, someone can have a banded cal king, a striped cal king, or an aberrant cal king (not counting recessive genes). Now there are a lot of names associated with aberrancies, but in reality they are ALL ABERRANT.
Cool cal king BTW and you could have fun breeding it.
