Ignorant size question

bigbarret85 Dec 28, 2005 10:59 AM

I'm curious as to how large (length/weight) columbian boa constrictors (BCI) will get in their adult stage. I recently purchaced one a few weeks ago and wish to know what i'm in for. I know the typical size for boas in general can range from 4-12 feet depending on the type of boa. But how large will my BCI get. I plan to feed her once a week on an appropiatly sized rodent not much bigger than her thickest girth. Thanks for any help.

Well it can range anywhere from 4 to 8 feet, depending on what type of BCI you have gotten and whether it is male or female and also how much you feed it and what it's temperatures are kept at. Less food and lower temps will keep it small but I am in no way supporting doing that. Sorry it is such a broad size but that is just the species itself.

well, right now SHE is 27 inches long. I feed her one adult mouse per week. Her cage temps are about 72 on the cool end and mid 90's on the warm end of the 10 gallon tank. She is a 05' Columbian Boa constrictor. I guess i'm saying that the she will be fed often in a warmer invironment. Her humidity stays between 50 and 80 percent- Usualy at a constant 60-70 percent when i mist the cage on a regular basis. Not sure what else to tell ya as far as specifics go. if any of this helps with determining the size of her then feel free to tell me. If it doesn't help and the size really does depend on the individual, then i will understand. Thanks again.

I wouldn't mess with the heat too much either, but IMO, once it reaches sub-adult/adult you could reduce it's feedings and substantially control it's growth.
