I used a pen eraser for two months and finally got rid of the ring.
Dan

What do you mean you used a eraser? Is it a joke or am i reading it wrong.

Cameron
Yea, that was a poor attempt at humor and no eraser was involved. The keys ringneck also lacks a ring as does some populations of regals.
I read of a guy who bought green colored kingsnake at a reptile show for big bucks and he thought he had heck of a winner but when it shed it was a black normal kingsnake.
Dan
The keys ringneck also lacks a ring as does some populations of regals.
Alot of field guides are misleading. Most field guides support no actual information on acricus because it's illegal to mess around with them. So most people don't just go looking for them, and therefore the info that is out there about them is wrong.
The Keys Ringneck can and will have a complete ring. Alot of books out there, atleast the ones I have seen, state that it always has no ring.

Actually the field guides are not misleading, nor is it wrong, nor is that information based on any legal issues. Field guide information is based on data from actual collected specimens and the Keys ringneck has been studied for many years. Permits have been issued by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation to herpetologists for studies. And those of which were collected lacked a ring or barely had a pale ring. However the case, I resided in the lower Keys for three years and the three or four specimens I saw lacked a ring.

Nice head shot.

Now this one does look like someone used an eraser to take off the ring. Just kidding though.
Dan

Now that is one awesome looking Ringneck. You have the best pictures, and snakes.
-----
Cameron
Well that is not my Key Ringneck snake as a friend allowed me to post the picture of it. They are protected in Florida.
Dan
No i knew it wasnt yours, i was just saying in general you have amazing snakes and have some awesome pictures as well. I always look for your posts on these forums. You were the one who helped me out with the scarlet snake.
-----
Cameron
Yea, I remember. I found a very skinny scarlet recently and it looked very thin and either sick or starved so I tubed it egg and it is gaining weight slowly. It drinks and drinks the eggs when I put the tube in its throat and press on the plunger on the syringe, however it has not drank from an egg yet? I actually took it as it seemed like it was gonna die without some food like in a day or so.
Dan
Ive been looking for Scarlet's lately but havent had any luck finding any herps besides anoles and cuban tree frogs. Post some pictures if you can of the little guy. Also do you live in Florida Dan?
Another question that is off topic, do you still have these species, Sedge Viper, Sir Lankan Bamboo Pit Viper, and Usambara Bush Viper because i was just looking on the venomous forum and it was a older post and i looked at the link you gave and you have some amazing animals, and im just wondering if you still have those and maybe post some pictures because they are incredible looking.
You have all the most unique species i could ever even imagine. Your the reason why i look up species in different countries because of the pictures you post and the animals you have.

Cameron
Yea I live in South Florida and those species I still have althought they are not too uncommon in collections. Its been a bit cool for finding many herps lately but spring is only a few months away.
Dan
Yea, i live in South Florida as well, and the temperatures keep droping. But spring is soon like you said and hopefully it will be a great year for herping.
