Could my new male Rainbow be a hypo?

medyssa Dec 29, 2005 12:05 AM

I recently bought an adult male brazilian to breed with my female and he is a very light coloring but not nearly as light as the hypos I have seen.
I dont know what the previous owner paid for the snake, but he didnt seem to know too much about the breed.
Can anyone tell me if this guy is a hypo?
Also, I am just beginning breeding and winging it off of some information from the net on how to do so, any advice on how to go about would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Jess

Can't see the pic, I have a Hypo and two moree coming. The hypo's are very clearly different coloring, not just lighter but missing the red/orange and are yellow/tan instead.

Try reposting the pic, must be stored on the internet somewhere then to show it here type the following without the spaces between the []

The dark black circles tell me that it is just a nice orange normal brb. If it was hypo those black boreders would be a lot lighter.

I am not extrememly knowledgable about hypos, but from what I have seen they have super reduced Black patterning, Yours though is REALLY AMAZING...I love the Orange...I think Orange BRB's are the best...Thanks for sharing the pics, and Have a great New Years..

I viewed them by clicking on the "picture" image pulling down the properties menu, then cut and paste the url into another browser window. Definately not a hypo, is a light orange normal.

It's really not too difficult, looking for info on the web is a good start. I based my first breeding season on Richard Ross' book called "The Reproductive Husbandry of Pythons and Boas". I still cycle my animals according to his outline.

My biggest piece of advice is to be ready for the babies. Have a nice shoebox rack all set up with appropriate temperatures ahead of time. Know where their food is going to come from and have some idea of how you are going to find new homes for them.

There's no feeling like seeing that slimey mass of little ones after months and months of waiting. Good luck and welcome to the addiction... I mean the hobby.

Mike
