Update savannah acting 'drunk'

Wyrm Dec 29, 2005 07:30 AM

The vet had cancelled so I had to make another appointment and have to wait, unless another can be found sooner. He has been a lot more active this past week, digging and climbing although he falls every now and again from a large round log in his enclosure. I had previously moved it to the ground so he would not injure himself doing so, it is just hard to wach him so unbalanced. I had a sign of hope a few hours ago. I was scrubbing his water tank and he seemed interested so I decided to try and feed him. He had great difficulty trying to consume a small mouse due to the manipulation required to get it in and down last time, so I tried some fresh deer meat. I cut it into bite sized chunks and hand fed him (not a good idea I know but it worked) and he ate quite a bit. No bites, although he has such a hard time looking up or biting his intended target it is hard to watch him not be as coordinated as I know he is. I just wanted to post about it, thank you those who read...

I hope he gets better. I could not imagine losing my Loki. I pray I never have to go through what you go through. Just an idea to find a vet. If you have any mom and pop pet stores in the area who have lizards stop in and see who they use for a vet on their little guys. In my experience these mom and pop stores take very good care of their animals and usually have a vet in the area that they deal with so the person if not specialized in herps atleast has had some experience.

Good Luck
Christina
