ok, so i've decided that i'm getting an UTH,, but i've never worked with one before,, and i haven't purchased it yet either (also don't have the gecko yet so its all good ,,, so, my question is, is it ok to have the tank sitting on a wooden dresser or will the UTH cause damage to it? also, assuming that my temps are ok with just the UTH then just having a bedside table beside the tank for light is ok right? on during the day and off at night,,, also, if i want to view it at night without disturbing it which light bulb would be best? thanks for helping me out,,, i kinda get obsessive about my animals,,lol,, spoiled little things!!! When you purchase the UTH is should have 4 little "feet" included with it to place under each corner of the tank. It has to be raised an 1/2" or so, otherwise the tank will rest on the electrical cord, which is a no-no LOL Also, these will raise the tank so that there is some ventilation and so that it will not harm the surface the tank is sitting on. All my tanks sit on top of a wood surface.

Yes, a lamp on a table next to the tank is fine. And for night time viewing the red infrared bulbs are the best choice. They produce very little visible light to the leo, therefore will not interfere with the leos day/night cycle
