Cockroach Colony

3leoshk Dec 29, 2005 08:44 AM

I was thinking about getting a roach colony. But as in Hong Kong I can't find any. I was wondering if I caught a few roaches in my garden and bred them. Would it work? The roaches there are quite small, can get up to 1 1/2 inches. I think they can't climb or fly either.

If you can read Chinese, then try this HK forum:
mytortoise.net/forum/

The people there should be able to answer most of your questions.

I can't read chinese. But, if you can, can you ask for me. If not too bad. But, do you think I could feed them any roach or just or just roaches they already use. Also, I know you live in HK. Do you know where I can get roaches worms (not mealies I already know) or other feeders. Also, where did you get your leos and which reptile shop do you go to?

Also, What substrate do you use? I don't want to use papertowels or news paper! Do you think Kaytee reptile bedding is ok. If not I can't find anything nice and safe!

Use tiles, you can find some that has a more natural finish. They are easy to clean and conduct heat pretty well.
With the roaches, perhaps you can try this www.blaberus.com
