Just found baby Blaptica dubia

Mothi Jul 24, 2003 12:15 PM

Yes, I just found some baby Blaptica dubia in my roaches cage. I am sooooooo happy. I have been waiting for them for a while and now the time has come. I always check their cage every morning. Unfortunately it seems one roach was eaten alive. I think it was one of the juvies. Here are some pictures of my new babies.

Anyone know how many babies a mother B.dubia can have? How often do they have babies? What can I do to prevent them from eating another one? Maybe not enough moisture or not enough space? I was supposed to upgrade their cage size, but have been slacking. I will go get one within a day or so. I don't want to lose babies.

10-30 babies. Are you sure it was eaten? When the shed or morph to adults it look like a dead roach, but its just the old skeleton. Just make sure they have food and water and they should be fine.

I am pretty sure that one was eaten since one juvie is missing. The other juvie it seems became a female so I have only 3 males and 8 females. I counted at least 18 babies so far. I moved everyone into a larger cage with 3 full egg flats sitting on the floor of the cage for hiding. Also put 2 dishes for food on each side and made sure babies can get in and out of the dish fine with doggy buscuits sticking out and some substrate going in.
