i've seen other pics here that seem to indicate as much. i suppose that torts are too slow-moving to hold a cat's attention as far as predation behavior goes, and, unlike dogs, you don't have to worry about them using it as a chew toy.

what i think is especially cute and funny about your pics is how the tort has the exact same expression in both of them regardless of the cat rolling around.

We have neighbors who let their cats roam loose even though the leash law here applies to cats too.
I've seen several different cats in our yard and they never seem to pay any attention to the tortoise at all. Many times I've found the cat that lives next door sleeping just outside the doorway of our tortoise's home.
I guess if you don't have a hatchling then your tortoise is pretty safe around a cat.
One day this past summer we stood & watched our tortoise walk up to a different sleeping cat & sniff it's tail. It woke up & looked at the tortoise like what the...? Then it ran away.
An 8-10lb cat may not be much of a match for a 55lb tortoise. lol

I hope tortoises are safe with them because our tortoise can't live inside & we can't stop the cats from getting inside our fence.

yeah, the tort doesnt seem to have many expressions, ha. cats generally dont seem too inclined to attack something that doesnt give a good chase. that cat in particular has grown
up around many animals, and will peacfully sit beside a tort, turtle, snake, lizard, even our quails and budgie. theres alot of good in raising a cat that way.

Very cute My cat is obssessed with my box turtle. She doesn't understand why he won't rub her belly. She always will flop in front of him on her back like she does when she wants us to pet her belly
