For the past six months, this male has been developing these lighter scales giving him a calico-esque appearance. He was sold to me as a possible het ghost. Could this be a calico?

If you showed a good pic of the sides, that may be the clincher, but in all honesty, it looks like a beautiful normal (although Het).
Calicos are pretty obvious with lots of white scales up the sides. Good luck though!
