newbie some questions.

i have had a female tangerine for a year. i just went out and got a male tang. as soon as he catches up to size with my female im going to try to breed.

1. will two tangs produce all tangs or normals het for tang? or a mixture of both?...this genetics thing seems a little confusing.

2. is it true that the only way to produce good morphs is through inbreeding? wouldnt that cause problems like defects and health problems?

ive done alot of reasearch the past year on breeding, and proper care and am pretty confident about this and think im ready but am still a little confused with the whole genetics thing.
thanks for any replies.

Breeding a tang-type to a tang-type will give you tang-type babys. You can't get het for (hi-yellow,tangerine,hypo,hypo tangerine, ect) they are the result of linebreeding a (hi-yellow is the result of linebreeding normals and a tangerine is the result of linebreeding hi-yellows).You don't have to inbreed to get good results this day and age there are plenty of tangerines to go around .

wow! great! so i dont have to worry about all that confusing het stuff! lol thanks. about the inbreeding thing. i was told that when i breed my tangs, to take the best female (less spots and most orange) and the best male, and breed those two together. or breed them back to the mother and father. and that is how you get the hypos and super hypos?

That is how them morph are made but is time consuming and them morph already exist so pointless really you only do that if there something specal about the leo in question like for example.(There's someone on the forum that has a super hypo tangerine baldy with some blue on it's head. They may need to do some inbreeding before they can outbreed and maybe inbreed again then out breed till the trait for the blue is stable and they've acheved what they have set out to do).If you won't a good mix of babys get your self a (super hypo tangerine baldy carrot tail)to go with your tangerine you will get a good range of babys with them example of what you could expect from that breeding is.Tangerines, hypo tangerines, some super hypo tangerines, and maybe some some super hypo tanerines, some will have carrot tail some won't.Remember non will be het for the other like (tanerine het hypo tangerine)ect this won't happen.
