I have no idea how big/small your retic is, but it will eventually seek water if it has not left the house. I don't know what climes you reside in, either. My suggestion would be to place a large water container in an area that you can easily monitor. Aside from that, I'd just keep looking, especially in areas that might provide a heat source and security.
If my (big) girls were to escape, I'd just follow the trail of destruction.
Ditto all Jon's comments plus if you have hard surface floors, you can lightly dust with flour to help track
i agree with prior two posts. another "trick" is to look at night with a very powerful flashlight. this does a couple of things. first, it forces your eyes to look in one specific area at a time. secondly, you may notice more differences in texture and colors, thereby defeating your retics urban camoflage. lastly, you may pick up some "eye shine" as the light bounces off it's retina. good luck and happy hunting.
