Hello,

I have a UTH plugged into a light dimmer and I based the temp on
a thermometer strip layed directly over the tiles where the UTH
is heating. I get a reading between 85 and 90. Is this ok? or
am I supposed to base the heat a little bit off the ground?

Oh another thing I have two juvenile leos and they are on paper
towels and bathroom tiles. How moist do I need to make the
paper towels in their humid hide? I mist it two, three times a
day but it dries out quite fast.

those temps sound fine...87-88 degrees being the optimal temps, but anything close to them is great too. I use large wads of paper towels in my leos' humid hides and i mist them thoroughly every other day which is fine. you have to get them quite wet though.

Thanks Cleo. I only had a layer or two of paper towel under the
hide. I'll add more moisture and paper next time.

what is your humid hide made out of??? that could be why it is drying out so fast. i use a cool whip container with a small door in the side, fill it with wet paper towels, and then put the lid on. then i just place it over the UTH.

I'm using the styrofoam trays you see usually for meats and such. It's low to their backs so they hide in there all day.
