I was looking into adding a rainbow boa to my collection and was wondering if you would say they are a relativly docile snake or do they tame down well if they are nippy? They are so appealing to the eye and I found a gorgeous one that I would like to aquire. I would just like to hear peoples good experiences with them.

You've come to the right place to hear good things about BRB's. One of my favorite things about these animals is that they get to be a nice-sized (6ft) snake without getting too big (never have to feed them rabbits). Babies are a handful. If they're not used to being picked up, they bite at anything. Just accept it and handle the animal anyway. Most (if not all) babies will tame down within a week or two and become an excellent pet. After that, the key is to handle them frequently. It seems to me that the more interaction they have with people, the less of a threat they see us. Good luck,

Mike

I've had literally hundreds of baby BRB's. I'd have to say ALL were nippy at birth and ALL tamed down quickly (after a couple of weeks). Of my adults, all are handleable and all but one are puppy dog tame. The other one is also handleable but I do have to watch her. She does not like to be passed around and/or taken in and out repeatedly.

Thank you for all your responces they are rather helpful and I appreciate it. I dont mind having to tame a younger one I just wanted to be sure they would mellow out and the more I hear they have calmed down nicely I am assured its not in their nature to be aggressive.
