RioBravoReptiles snake from previous post...It's a boy! more..

We've had conversations about the small keels that are barely visible on large adult make couperi. Every one I've seen has had it.

I kept a group of Texans before and they do not always, but do sometimes have them, especially the older, larger males.

That snake HAD to be a male, right? I've never seen them on females. One cool thing about couperi, you can sex an adult snakes shed skin, because you can actually see the keel marks on the shed!

Check out the keels on this Texan...

.. I used the term 'big guy'' in that post to describe the feeling of finding that snake, not the sex. My error. That was a female, and from other clues not an older animal. In this case at least, your observations are inaccurate....

You asked me specifically if you could use my images and I'm certain I requested you do not co-opt my photos.. I am not seeking a feud but please remove the image of mine you edited for your own purposes from PhotoBucket and delete any copies you have made.

A guy of your obvious prominence in the Drymarchon field can come up with his own images.

Thanks.

If you don't want people using your photos, DO NOT POST THEM ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB!

I will be happy to remove the photo.

I removed the photo and deleted it from my hard drive.

I sent you that email message asking permission to use them on my personal powerpoint...then posted the photo showing the keels before you came back and said that you "do not allow" people to use your photos, and then you went on to offer to bribe me by saying I could use your photos if I got you some nice indigos from me this spring.

Photos on the web are pretty much public property, and you didn't state on your message that they were copyrighted...I suggest you keep photos personal if you don't want people "using" them.

I have seen keels on a female couperi that bred and dropped eggs.

Having seen the keels, I can say with confidence that using keels to sex an indigo is not accurate.

That's good to know.
You know the folks that did the study at KSC got to the point where they didn't even probe the snakes anymore...they just looked for keels to determine sex.

I'm going to pass this tidbit on!
