What's the best "active" reptile??

darkphant0m Jul 24, 2003 01:38 PM

Hey guys!

My mom's been wanting to get some sort of reptile for a while now. I've got a Leopard Gecko, 2 Fire Belly Toads, and a Box Turtle, and she's feeling kinda left out. But she wants something that is really active and fun to watch. We just don't know what to get. She was thinking about anoles, but I dunno. We're still in the "beginner" stage of raising herps.

We've got a ten-gallon glass aquarium just sitting around and it's already got a UTH on one side. So any ideas out there of what would be a good herp to get? It could be a lizard, frog, gecko, etc., but no snakes !

Thanks!

A bearded dragon. Good for beginner herps, and lots of personality. A baby would do well in a 10 gal initially. They eat crickets and veggies, more veggies as adults, with an occasional pinkie.

i have blue tailed tree lizards they arnt handleable because thier extremely scittish but their the most fun thing to watch out of everything i have and 1 or 2 should do fine in a 10 gallon as long as they have something to climb on,they eat small crickets, and need it hot and humid

heres a few from one of the books I own and a few care sheets.and how many could fit in a ten gallon
1 red sided skink
1 sandfish
1-2 neon day geckos
1-2 crocodile geckos
1-2 bibrons geckos
1-2 flying geckos
2-3 ocelot geckos
1 long tailed grass lizard

Texas Collard Lizards or Emerald Swifts? We saw some at the pet store today and they look really neat. I started looking them up online, and the Swifts look fairly easy to take care of. But I haven't found that much on Collard Lizards.

Any one out there have any experience raising either of these types of lizards?

Thanks again to everyone for all of their input earlier as well!

Ive never kept emerald swifts but every body says they need a 20-29 gallon at the least.and collards need a twenty gallon long for a cage.
