"Is this a morph" Poll

jarskie Dec 31, 2005 04:35 AM

Okay, first of this is in no way bashing or mocking anyone that has posted questions asking if their snake is or morph or not, just a quest for knowledge. You often see people asking that question, "Is my snake a morph". I have only been on this board for 3 or 4 months (mostly just reading), but for the people that have been here longer, have there been any that were or were they for the most part all norms?

Like I said, just wondering about this, not trying to make fun of anyone.

thanks all,

~Johnny

Most of the ones I have seen are just normals. However, there have been pics posted of balls that could be an axanthic or an IMG or a ??? They are projects. They can be long term projects. Meaning that they have to be raised to breeding size, bred, and then an offspring needs to be raised to breeding size and bred back to the parent. This can take several years and many breeders are not willing to invest the time. If you think you have something, prove it. Do the work and prove it out. Don't post it in the classifieds with a bunch of BS that it could be this or that. There is no quick cheap path to success!
There are so many breeders carefully looking at the imports and CH as well as any odd CB that it is becoming harder and harder to find something unique or different. If your lucky enough to find something that you think is new or genetic, congratulations. You now have a dinking project. Many of us do have these types of projects. Personally, I have no less than 3 with a good chance of 2 breeding this season.

To the untrained eye, some morphs look just like normals. If you do not see them up front, the pics on the internet do not do them justice, and therefore people may mistake such morphs as the Yellowbelly, the Cinnamon and (escuse me for saying it) Ugly Pastels for normals.

Mostly, yes, they have been normals. Pretty normals, but most people are wishing that they were more. Hell, I wish my normals were more than just normals, but we can't all have the magical amazing new ball morph of the season. It's all good though, normals are awesome and I love all of mine to death.

Long live the NORMAL!

Yeah, I am familiar with "dinking" projects, I have a granite that I am working with myself (my only dinking project, but still one none the less). I was just wondering how many of the people that posted asking if their snake was a morph or not actually had a morph. Anyways, thanks guys for the info,

~Johnny
