The man who sold me my toads told me that he once had a bufo toad get loose in his house and he never saw him again untill 3 months later when he found him looking healthy in a potted plant.
3 months is a long time for no feeding! Maybe it was able to find house flies and other insects?
Do they have to go days without food in the wild, and would skipping some feedings be a good idea for otherwise well-fed toads?
I can't really fathom the idea of these toads not being able to find food in the wild. I mean... why would a desert toad ever not be able to find insects, grubs, beetles, or worms? There must pretty much always be something crawling or flying around that a toad can try to eat. The only thing I can think of is if a long rain period in the natural habitat would make their foods unavailable for a time.
