Ritas Dec 31, 2005 02:54 PM

Hi
I support the Humane Society because they want animals properly cared for in pet stores my uncle says they want to ban most small pets including reptiles (I have a small king and milksnake each in his own tank ofcourse).
Maybe they just want to bab tigers, large exotic cats and wolves. I cant find any info . Anyone know ?
I was curious .
Thanks

Yes the Humane Society of the US wants to ban reptiles. Whether they can do that depends on the majority of public opinion.

I read the book they published on reptiles and much of this is true. We reptile people have cruelty in our mists as do dog and cat people.

Many of the complaints I hear involves pet stores or carnivals. Some people think we should not get involved in cleaning up abuse problems because of the HSUS and PETA. I think this is a mistake.

Most of us are animal welfare people. People who wants to ban pets are animal rights people.

Hope this helps.

Please remember that there are many humane societies in each state, and they are not connected to each other for the most part. There is also the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). The HSUS does not run a shelter. The HSUS DOES want to ban ownership if reptiles.

Some of my local county humane societies work with me to place unwanted pet reptiles into new homes. Each humane society is different.
