Tom and Tina up date
It’s been four months since Tom and Tina’s vicious attack by a rat, if you go back
to threads starting Aug 28 thru Sept 3rd. These 4 images show the boys, again Tina’s male, as they recover from their injuries. First we see Tom soaking in a 12 quart dish all stretched out, both boys get a soak every morning after eating worms, bananas and berries. Yes every morning. They sleep on towels as their injuries were to their feet. Both turtles had all four feet bitten and ripped open. Another photo shows Toms
scales ripped of and were his neck has healed over from having a layer of skin ripped off all the way around. They have had many trips to a regular reptile vet and were treated with anti biotic shots and cream. We gave them each 18 shots apiece every other day for over a month. We were very pleased with the reptile vets treatment and handling of our boys. They will be able to go back in the garden next year.
One side note, after the attack Tina follows Tom around like a puppy dog and will lay down by him till he chases him away. Actually they get along quite well for two males.
Just thought I’d post a little good news about some Box Turtles.
