the egg should be a light pinkish color. with things that look like vains running through the egg. if it is green it is infertile

Take a small pen flashlight in a dark room and shine it through the egg. Even in eggs laid freshly that day you can see a small round red circle with a red dot in the center.. looks alot like a bullseye. If thats there then the egg is fertile.. if all you get is a yellow sort of color to the egg then its infertile. Sometimes infertile eggs will have small specks of red scattered in them but that bullseye pattern is the easiest way to tell if eggs are fertile or not and it tells you immediately if they are.

A quick photo.. a little blurry, of what a healthy egg should look like after 4-5 weeks... For some reason most of mine that hatch... hatch out at 45 - 48 days even when kept at temps below 83 degrees... odd but then.. a lot of things are odd about leos at times *L* Sorry I couldn't get more detail of the veins in the egg.. I'm still learning to use digital zoom instead of a macro mode on my new camera.
