Need to install a fogger-need tech advise

Shopaholic Jan 01, 2006 03:22 PM

Hi Friends:

I had plans to install some sort of fogger in my Imitator tank when I first had it put together about 4 years back but never completed that step. I'd like to do that now but I need some tech advisement. I have a tall tank w/ a false bottom that is about a generous 6 inches high. I have access to one portion via a trap door. I wish to put a fogger in the false bottom because there is always a ton of water down there and some how guide the fog through the soil and have the fog rise up through the floor. How/what would I attach to what kind of fogger to guide the fog upward and deposit onto the floor? The real bottom is an acrylic shelf drilled with 1/4 inch holes, so I'd have to use some really fine tubing I think.

Thanks for any ideas you might be able to give me.

Maggie

Those pet industry fog makers are worthless. They don't last long, they heat up the water, and would kill any animal that touches it.

I use an ultrasonic cool mist humidifier and plump it into the top of my one of my tanks. You can see how I do it by going to www.joshsfrogs.com/howto.html

Hey nice website Josh! Now I know another wonderful place to get info and buy stuff.

What I've got is this great big False bottom that can hold about 4-5 inches of water and none of the frogs can reach it. I was thinking about plumbing through the floor and using that false bottom water to do the fogging and directing that fog through the floor and onto the top of the soil. IS that at all possible and would there be any hazards or problems you could foresee?

Thanks!

Maggie

That could be possible. I know people who have had good success with those things used a small rubbermaid/tupperware container to hold the fogger and then piped it out. Take pictures of how you set it up and share with us!
