They work well for large snakes because the panels can be obtained with large surface areas. Good for boas and larger pythons. The panels do tend to dry the air in the cage, so a humidity box is a good thing to have available, or else a large water container.

IMO, heat panels aren't really necessary for ball pythons, but they can be used.
