Please help: RES problem

wing Jan 02, 2006 06:56 AM

Last night I noticed that my RES is floating and I know that indicate some problem and also, I noticed that he is stretching his head a lot out of water and opening its mouth often like it's gasping for air. Is there anything I could do to help him? I took him out of the water and made him stay in a dry place for the meantime.

These signs are usually respiratory infection (pneumonia).
Don't wait! Antibiotics will be needed.

Don't keep him out of the water too long or he will dehydrate
and that will add to the problems. Raise your water temp
to 80 degrees and make sure the basking area is about 90
degrees. Check to make sure there are not drafts around
his enclosure.

Please take him to a qualified vet ASAP.
