? about housing papuan pythons

bloodpython7 Jan 02, 2006 09:49 PM

hi, i was wondering if its safe to house 2 papuan pythons together? ive read that they are cannibalistic but im not sure so id rather be safe then sorry and ask someone who may know. i have a female thats only pushing 3 feet so shes pretty small and possibly another female thats pushing 8 feet. i havnt bought the bigger female yet because before i do i wanted to find out if i can keep these 2 together or would the larger female eat the baby? if someone could help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Tim

I would not. 1) Cannibalistic, 2)Qaurantine of the new snake is a must, 3) To much of a size difference.
Good luck with them though. Fun snakes!!

thanks, yeah they are by far one of the most entertaining snakes ive ever had. they always stay busy and have a very alert personality. my female looks exactly like your little male, same size and everything. thanks again for the reply

I only put my pair together during breeding, and keep an eye out on them then. They WILL eat their mates, although it's not common...and they love to snack on scrubs.
