How are their temperments?

freon546 Jan 02, 2006 10:06 PM

I am looking into getting an IJ carpet and i wanted to know how their temperments are. I dont mind getting bit, i just want to get bit all the time. How do their temperments compare to a JCP?

also, how do their sizes compare to a JCP?

All of the Irian Jayas I have had were and still are very docile, with a couple of them being snappy as hatchlings. They are generally about the same size as jungles, ranging from 4.5'-6.5'.

We have Jungles, Coastals and IJs. Their temperaments are fantastic! I hear of people having various carpets that will frequently bite. It makes me wonder if they are doing something wrong or I just get constantly lucky. Of course some of mine are more outgoing and congenial than others. The youngsters nip a little when they are first trying to figure things out but in a very short time they become docile, outgoing and curious animals. I take some of mine to school and let the kids pull their tails all day. Never had a bite yet, though some probably deserved one.

An IJ is a great place to start. Slightly smaller and a little more manageable. Be sure to buy from a local breeder with adults on hand.
