Can collareds eat roaches?

cee4 Jan 03, 2006 09:23 AM

If so how small would the roaches have to be? I keep orangeheads and they get about one and a half inches fully grown..Also how many insects a day would a trio of adult collareds eat?

Thanks, Im thinking long and hard about getting a nice trio this spring..Would a 60gal be big enough for 3?

Many people use roaches with their lizards, as far as collareds I know some who use them, Also some who have said they do not like them as much as crickets. Guess you have to just try.

I have never used them. As far as size , suppose it would depend on the age/size of the collared. Hatchlings would get tiny roaches, and work up to about an inch, like an adult cricket.

As far as how much an adult trio eats always varies, adults can eat 5-6 crickets each, sometimes a couple less, sometimes a few more, but thats about norm.

Best wishes with your quest, oh a 60 gallon would be just FINE

Hope ya stick around and show off those lizards when ya get them.
Pretty kids

yet if Im going to get the collareds.Im weighing things like whether I want more harder to care for lizards( I love the way they look and the setup) or a relatively easy care but less active Argentine Boa..Its such a hard choice...I do hate dealing with crickets but dont mind the roaches..I dont mind buying crickets as supplements on occasion though.

ITS a very hard choice, I need to figure about how much a setup for the lizards would be including the UV light plus actual lizards as compared to the boa(I already have a setup for him if I get him but he is rather expensive)
