has anyone ever retrieved a crestie that went missing and if so, how? one of my juveniles wasn't in it's cage last night and i checked everywhere to the point where i broke down the whole tank. it seems escape is the only answer, although i'm not sure how...anyway does anyone have any advice on how to find him...so far i have left out a big dish of baby food in a small tank in the middle of the room, but no luck.

I have just had them turn up again. You could spray some water onto the windows in the room and shut out the lights. he may come out for a drink and leave out the food (as you are doing).

It's a crapshoot as to whether he will return though. Good luck.

i had 5 of 7 hatchlings escape one night when i failed to snap the lid on their cage all the way. my reptile room is heavily decorated with fake vines, fake ficus trees, and quite a bit of pothos plants. all geckos were found in less than 5 minutes scattered all over the room. they thought they were " hiding" but really they weren't very difficult to find. before i decorated the room that way they were much more difficult to find, hiding behind cages, pictures on the walls, board games in the closet and all sorts of stuff.
i would just do what you did and keep the lights off, and check back every so often to see if it pops up.

close all doors you can around the area it escaped, keep all larger pets (dogs, cats) out of the area, and keep the lights out and shades drawn. it's more likely to come out when it's dark. i usually find escapees not far from where they hide, even after failed attempts of tearing the room apart.
good luck
