Cheyenne Stunning Yeller lady

PHEve Jan 03, 2006 03:04 PM

Shes so pretty, deep yellow/blue with her soft gorgeous big eyes.
I wish I could have mated her this year, but I have decided not to included her with the yellowheads that are brumating. Shes a little on the small/ slender side.

I don't want to take any chances with her, will wait until next time. Shes a real SWEET thang and nice pet.

Eve, that is a really nice female, from what I have seen on females is they are usually tanish body color. Your female actually looks more like a young male with those colors and the smaller head. Good idea to hold off another year and let her get larger, who knows maybe she will surprise you with a clutch of eggs by the end of summer anyway?
Good luck, Bob

Just tanish, mothers are allowed bragging rights, so I have to say My lady lizards are just as gorgeous as the males, extremely colorful.

Heres TWO more beauties Kewanee, and the second little sweety is Shawnee, I have atleast 5 more just as pretty

Just kidding, Bob. I felt the same way as you when I first became interested in collareds. I made a trip to Missouri my first year of interest and couldn't believe how drab the females were compared to the green males. Even the males from that place are drab in comparison to some of the lizards you see from Utah and Arizona. Those female yellowheads look like awesome males, as seen in Eve's pictures. I have seen some in the wild with decent amounts of yellow, but nothing like what Eve shows.

This is my only collared female (aquaflame). I have seen some with nice greens and yellows, but still not nealry as stunning as those from Utah. I like these aquaflames though...they really do quite well in my opinion. My girl has some interesting peach colors, but not much yellow in her. Her body color is pretty brownish too, not too much blue/green.

Her mate (first picture) is pretty colorful. I still have not gotten them to produce offspring. She has laid bunk eggs for three years.

John, you have a good lookin male there, the female is nice lookin to just different than Eves, wonder if eves female is a proven breeder? I know with monitors there are HE/SHES that occur in the wild, hermaphrodite is the proper term, I had one once that was tested by the vet and sure enough it was one of those! What do you think about the Aquaflames from Oklahoma? On the states dept of wildlifes website they have a pic of one awesome male, he has a fire orange head and turqoise blue body with some yellow bands. Where is the best locale for killer lookin aquaflames in your opinion? I just bought 3.5 aquaflames C.B. and I cant wait to get them tomarrow, hope they arrive alive as they are a day late already and secondly hope they scream with color? Wonder if Eves females that look like males had parental stock that looked the same as they do?
thanks, Bob

I'm sure Eve's parental Stock look at good as the offspring do. With those lizards from the East Central area of Utah, I can't tell the difference between males and females without inspection.

They all get those blazing yellow heads...it really is amazing. I have a picture somewhere from some pretty nice aquaflame females. When I first seen them, I thought they were young males. I'll see if I can dig up some old pictures. I just moved to a new house and can't find a lot of my computer disks.

As far as aquaflames go...I have personally talked to Paul before and am pretty sure he gets some from some of the best areas there are. Get them while you can though...I'm not sure Oklahoma will allow any collecting within the next few years. When I went I got an export permit (free of charge) to keep from violating any Lacey Acts, and also had to purchase a $25.00 hunting licence. People are very protective of their lizards in that state, after all it is the state reptile.

John, thats cool the females look the same as the males with the yellowheads but truthfully I prefer the females to look differant as they are beautiful in their own way, The C. Dickersonae is a good example, the females look totally different than the males but are really screamers to. Heck its like having 2 different beautiful species all in one when you have a good looking female that is different that the male [appearance wise]
Thanks, Bob

John, Forgot to ask you do you keep yours outside? Looks like the pic was taken outdoors, you have some really nice yellow on that males head. What state do you live in? I was thinkin about putting mine in one of my outdoor enclosures this summer, my backyard faces south and gets direct sun all day, that was the selling feature of my house LOL funny but true
