Striped Sonoran???

sallie_keeper Jan 03, 2006 04:09 PM

Hi all, I was wondering if there was a striped sonoran gopher being bred out there.. The reason, a friend of mine just picked up a striped gopher at the local petco and it was labled a sonoran BUT does NOT have the coloration of my normal looking sonoran hatchlings. I am thinking that it might be a striped pacific..

I am planning on buying it off the friend, to breed with my sonorans next year..but not if they ain't the same species.

Any thoughts,

Harpy
Sorry, I do not have a pic of this snake..

I saw some "striped sonorans" at a local show last year. But upon questioning the guy, it was revealed that were intergrades. So to answer your question, there may be some out there but I have not heard of any pure ones.

PS below is a pic of an albino striped pacific gopher.

If it is completely striped, then it is definitely not a Sonoran. We hatched one with partial neck striping, but I'e never seen one with anything beyond that.

Hello,
I also have never seen a Sonoran completely striped, but did hatch out a few over the past two years that show some nice striping. Here is a ghost that shows the most striping to date, I had a few others but nothing like this one just yet.

Have a good day,

Gregg F.

That would make for some really good looking gophers. Nice snake Shaun, hopefully when you breed that one the trait shows through to the offspring! I was just sitting here thinking about how nice a striped Sonoran would look, i'm sure someday we will see one pop up.
