Can I feed my cham cicadas? I wish I would have held some over from our 17 year group last year....

MY GOD. Probably one of the most annoying bugs I have ever seen/heard.

We have them often in Canada, springtime/summer, give me headaches with the shrill buzzing. Sometimes I could find them and shut them up, if I was lucky. They were about 5-10 centimeters.

Well... I thought that was horrible. I was wrong, the Canadian ones are like innocent children compared to a similar insect I found while I was living in the south central region of Brazil for a year.

Brazilian Bastards I nicknamed them, since I never learned to translate the word my local friends told me. They looked like a moth meets cicada, only they were the size or a bird. A good 4-5 inches easily - plus the wings. Canadian Cicadas were like a wisper compared to these bugs. Hurt the ears, and they sometimes attacked me on my way to school each early morning. Sit on the sidewalks and fly at you when you walk by...

I've always wondered what they were. could never find information on them.

Anywas, enough stories, are the type you would use for feeders, still be the noisey ones?

I only recently met my first cicadas. None in So Cal, but plenty of em in AZ!
