laying low lizard

ejammer Jan 03, 2006 05:49 PM

Hello,

I have had MAX for about two years. He grew from 180g to 290g in just over a year. He has been lying real low this winter. He comes out about every third day from under his log and picks his food. He eats a litle, but has lost about 10 grams in the last month and a half. He still looks plump and his tail is thick. His temps are the same and his fecal matter looks normal. I have set his clock back two hours since the fall. Is this normal for them to shut down this much even though the temps in his cage are normal(90+ one end and 85 the cool end with a basking rock of about 120). I swear he knows it's snowing outside!!

Thanks,

Eric

Its been pretty much the same thing here. Many of my animals seem to be coming out of it by themselves, the male mali is coming out just about every day now, but semms like he's in a bit of a daze. Its my first winter with this collection, and I still don't have their routines down yet. Next fall and winter should be much easier to understand.

ocellated and ornate on the radar.

Oh yeah, that sounds pretty normal, seems as if their activities are governed more by photo cycle than actual temperatures. They know when fall arrives.
