Cat Gecko (any GOOD information?)

phantasticus Jan 03, 2006 07:25 PM

I am getting a trio of Cat Geckos in and have done all online research. I am under the conclusion that they like it room temperature and dont like it too hot. Also requiring high humidity and misting to drink.
Does anyone have information who have kept these before and have had success breeding. I am trying to figure out their natural environment...for instance sleep on a branch, in a hole or under bark? I plan to use peat on bottom for humidity, but still figuring out best size and type plants/branches to use.
Also breeders keep in contact with me for trades.

I used to breed cats a few years ago. This was my setup. A 15gallon (long) aquarium with a screen lid. Paper towels as substrate. 1 potted Pothos plant at each end. I used a small 3" by 3" food stage contained with damp moss as an egg laying box. Use full spectrum UV and a 75watt bulb in a reflector dome directly on the screen. The eggs will hatch at room temp in about 3 months. They lay 2 per clutch (as most geckos), and the should lay 3 to 4 clutches per season. THE BIG MISTAKE most people make is getting these geckos TOO HOT. mid 80'sF for a basking spot.

get in touch with afelinus at the geckos unlimited forums. He's been breeding them for a long time and has it down to a science (the man producing tons of them).
