Corn snake regurgitation

ReptilesRampant Jan 03, 2006 08:28 PM

I looked in my yearling creamsicle's tank this afternoon and I saw that he had regurgitated the fuzzy I gave him the night before. I was wondering what might have caused this & when I should feed him again.

1. his daytime temps are 81 hotspot & 74 cool area
2. he has 3 hides, one in hotspot, one in cool area, and one in the middle
3. he is on a 12-12 day/night cycle
4. I have been feeding him every 4 days with a small fuzzy

That is all the info I can think of that might cause this to happen. Also, his warm hide is a bit big for him, do you think he could feel insecure? He has had this cage setup for over 3 months, why has he suddenly decided to regurgitate now?

I'll post pics of my snakes tomorrow.

Thank you

did you hold him after you fed him?if so how long?has he/his cage been moved since he has eaten?

I did not hold him, move his cage, or change anything. He has been on this schedule for over 3 months and I did not do anything different this time.

Ok, what I would do...
Raise his temps a few degrees. Maybe 83 or 84 warm side.
Wait 10 days and feed it again.
Make sure to wait 10 days before feeding again.
Feed it the smallest fuzzie you have or even a pinkie if you have one.
Give it time to digest this. I would go one week and then feed it a normal size fuzzie. Give it time to digest this.
If it holds this down continue on with a regular feeding schedule but I would recommend feeding every 7 days as opposed to 4.
As the prey size goes up it takes longer to digest. Especially during the cooler months.
Every 4 days doesn't give it time to digest.
